The Jalan Besar Fellowship has been instrumental in fostering literary projects that engage with Sing Lit and its community. This year, we received 18 impressive applications and disbursed $9,000 in funds and resources to 3 selected Fellows. This support has facilitated the creation of groundbreaking projects such as a collaborative Sing Lit mural, the publication of 3 chapbooks, and an inclusive platform for Muslim writers.

Manuscript Bootcamp embodies our commitment to nurture emerging talent. The 2024 edition focussed on the production of creative nonfiction in Singapore. From a pool of 16 applicants, we meticulously selected the top 6 most promising nonfiction writers. These chosen "bootcampers" embarked on an intensive editorial journey, seeding new manuscripts and developing their skills with a panel of experienced practitioners.
Over the years, Bootcamp alumni have won or been shortlisted for the Singapore Literature Prize (Samuel Lee, Ng Yi-Sheng, Amanda Chong, Tse Hao Guang, Hamid Roslan), or have garnered an international reputation (Clarissa Goenawan). Other authors of note who've been through the programme include David Wong, Daryl Lim Wei Jie, Jennifer Anne Champion, Ang Shuang and Ruth Tang.

Annually, Sing Lit Station runs these programmes at a loss of $17,000. While we are able to cover 80% of costs through the Major Company Grant, we need your help to close the remaining gap of $4,000. Your support is vital in sustaining quality writer development programmes that nurture literary excellence and elevate Sing Lit on the global stage.

Since its inception in 2015, Manuscript Bootcamp has aided the development of 50 manuscripts from SIngapore’s most promising emerging writers. Meawhile, the Jalan Besar fellowship has disbursed $17,745 to 6 individuals and collectives in support of projects that bring the Sing Lit community together.
