ABOUT

Josephine Chia is an internationally- published, award-winning author with twelve books in fiction and non-fiction, adult’s as well as children’s. She had taught Creative Writing in UK and now here. She gives talks on her Peranakan heritage and kampong and runs workshops for schools, NAC, NLB, SBC and was mentor on MOE’s Creative Arts Programme and NAC’s MAP Programme.

HOW TO WRITE AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY
For: junior college; max. 20 pax
Availability: 2 hours per session; single session
Description: You have led a fascinating life. Now, you want to share your story but don’t know how to get started. This workshop will explain the writing elements that are involved to construct the book and bring your story to life. Josephine will show you how to shape your words to make personal incidents become relevant and interesting for others.
Learning Outcomes: To understand the difference between writing a journal and writing a memoir.

STARTLE YOUR READER BACK INTO LIFE!
For: upper / lower sec., junior college; max. 20 pax
Availability: 2 hours per session; single / multiple sessions
Description: This workshop is for those who are aspiring to write their first novel. Discuss the various elements of story and structure, and learn how to make your story startle your reader back into life. Instead of churning out tired clichéd prose, Josephine will help you to release your creative genie and find your own unique literary voice. Participants will be given writing exercises.
Learning Outcomes: To learn how to use language creatively to entice the reader to read on.
